Earthquake in Japan today, just a week after we left. It was a 6.9 or 7.1 depending on who's counting and was centered about 320km away from Tokyo, but still shook the city. I am both happy and sad that we missed it. I mean, it would be scary, and I really would not want anything to happen to us, but I've never sat through an earthquake before.

Do you mean "never had to sit through a REAL earthquake before?" I've felt at least one in Toronto and a couple in Ottawa before. Obviously nothing on the scale of the one in Japan. The ones here I would describe as 'surreal' just because of how bizarre it is to have the ground move on you...
ReplyDeleteOh and on the theme of 'missing it by that much,' my old roommate has pictures of himself at the top of the World Trade Centre dated September 9, 2001.
